The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) will launch “Corona Ko Harana Hai” – a multilingual mass media awareness campaign on appropriate behaviors for COVID, targeting families to protect themselves from COVID.
The campaign will be presented nationwide via mass media including television, print, radio and digital media from today, with the slogan “Har ghar ne thaana hai, Corona ko harana hai ”.
FICCI, together with its members, has created a comprehensive communication plan in different languages, featuring popular and well-respected personalities, led by Akshay Kumar in Hindi, Marathi and Punjabi, Arya in Tamil, Chiranjeevi in Telugu, Punit Rajkumar in kannada among others.
The second wave of the pandemic has been terrible – its intensity and virality call for urgent collective action. The FICCI Media and Entertainment Committee has met to support the government’s efforts to raise awareness and educate the public on the need to maintain appropriate COVID behavior during these difficult times. These mass citizen outreach efforts with contributions from the Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF), the Indian Advertising Association, the wider media community and members of the FICCI Media and Entertainment Committee, as well as FICCI’s continued efforts to strengthen essential medical infrastructure and launch vaccination campaigns, can help control the spread of the virus and reduce the burden on existing health infrastructure.
The FICCI Media and Entertainment Committee also met with the Indian government’s empowered committee on COVID-19 and briefed them on these efforts.
Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Chairman of the Media and Entertainment Committee of FICCI, said: “Thanks to the heroic efforts of our healthcare workers and various NGOs, we are at a point where the tide is starting to turn. But we must remain vigilant to protect ourselves, our families and our communities from the continued spread of the virus. This is a crucial time to scale up vaccinations and implement an effective prevention program to ensure we are prepared for the future and to minimize the impact of the virus on lives and livelihoods. It is our responsibility to come together to inform and provide specific education through an effective communication strategy to all Indians and enable everyone to adopt appropriate behavior in Covid. The campaign will begin on June 5.
