EXCLUSIVE: BBC’s youth service BBC Three has renewed its Lifetime series remake The rap game for a third season.
The series, which sees talented MCs competing for a recording contract, is directed by British producer Naked de Fremantle, who is currently on crew for the filming of season 3. Casting is underway and the show will be featured more late in the year.
Hosted by DJ Target, Krept and Konan, Season 2 premiered last October. The six-part series was produced by Naked Creative Director Tom O’Brien and Cam de la Huerta.
Fremantle took full control of Naked last year in an acquisition that saw founder Simon Andreae, the former head of alternative entertainment at Fox, rise upstairs to become the general manager of the production group at UK.
Since then, Naked has hired Channel 4’s Fatima Salaria as an MD and has inhaled the productions of sister company Boundless, including the UK version of The apprentice and Great designs. The outfit is currently the facade of Cara Delevingne Planet sex for BBC Three and Hulu, as well as the ITV2 dating series Secret love.
