California Relaxes Some Covid Restrictions Based On Vaccine Status – Deadline

On the same day that the federal government eased restrictions on fully vaccinated travelers to the United States, the country’s most populous state also changed some Covid-19 guidelines based on vaccine status.

Fully vaccinated Americans no longer need to test before or after travel, or quarantine after arrival according to the new federal guidelines. California has aligned itself, for the most part, with these restrictions, but will still require all travelers to get tested 1-3 days before travel. Quarantine is only required if this test is positive.

California also released on Friday new directives allowing a resumption of attendance at indoor concerts, sporting events, theatrical performances and conferences. From April 15, capacity restrictions will be eased based on the placement of counties in the economic recovery level system. Los Angeles County is currently in the Orange level of the state’s reopening plan.

For the first time in the state’s battle against Covid-19, the reopening of restrictions during live events will also be affected by the immunization status of those present.

For example, in the red tier, larger sites that would not otherwise be open will now be allowed to open at 20% of their capacity “if all guests are tested or show full proof of vaccination”. In the Orange tier, the allocation is 10% capacity or 2000 participants, whichever is less. Unless guests are tested or provide proof of vaccination. In this case, the percentage of capacity allowed more than triples at 35%, with no numerical limit. In the yellow level, the normal allowance is still 10% or 2000. But with the vaccination and the tests, the authorized attendance increases to 50%

For a place like the Staples Center with a capacity of 20,000 people, vaccinations and testing could turn 2,000 attendees into 10,000. That’s a big difference in income – and in a fan’s experience when it comes to life. a concert or a Laker match. For more details, see the table below.

Los Angeles County health officials, when asked about the changes, said the region will issue a new travel order on Monday; Local officials can be stricter than the state, but not more lenient. The county was more vague on permissions for the live events.

“We try to be online as much as possible, where it makes sense,” said Dr. Muntu Davis, LA County Health Officer. “As for the live events, there are still some open questions that we need to get the details on before we can fully align.”

The Lakers released a statement Friday night, saying the team were “incredibly excited that the State of California today announced guidelines that will allow Lakers fans to return to Staples Center.”

“Now that we have the guidance, we’ll be working with LA County Public Health and the Staples Center to finalize our plans for fans to safely attend our games starting with the Lakers vs. Celtics game on April 15,” according to the team.

The Clippers posted a short message on the team’s Twitter page saying, “Can’t wait to see you, #ClipperNation.” The post included a photo indicating that limited tickets will be available for home games starting April 18.
