Cannes Film Festival press chief Aïda Belloulid has left the festival to take on a new post of public relations manager at Netflix France.
The event quickly moved to appoint Agnès Leroy as its new press manager. She took up her post on June 1. Leroy has spent most of his career with the Paris-based public relations agency Public Système Cinéma, most recently overseeing the communications strategy of the Deauville American Film Festival and the Gérardmer Fantastic Film Festival.
Leroy’s first responsibility will be to oversee the press conference for the festival’s official selection, which will take place tomorrow (June 3) with Cannes chefs Pierre Lescure and Thierry Frémaux unveiling this year’s lineup.
Belloulid has been in Cannes since January 2019, when she took over the role of longtime press officer Christine Aimé.
This year’s Cannes Film Festival will take place July 6-17. As Deadline reported yesterday, the event is grappling with new French government travel rules which have cast doubt on the possible presence of British delegates, who typically make up a third of professional Cannes attendees.
