EXCLUSIVE: Cheryl Ladd is headlining the country music-focused feature A cowgirl song that Samuel Goldwyn will distribute worldwide. The photo, the fourth opus of the Cowgirls and Angels series, begins filming Tuesday in Chickasha, OK.
A cowgirl song is a coming-of-age drama that follows an aspiring but adrift teenage singer who goes to live with her grandmother, once a country music legend, but who has had a hard time following the death of her husband five years earlier. Together, they overcome adversity and find redemption through their love of music. The photo is written and produced by Timothy Armstrong and marks his return to the series and filming in Oklahoma a decade later. Cowgirls and Angels.
Starla Christian and Jessica Barondes co-produce with Reagan Elkins and as stage manager. Chris Freihofer is the casting director of the CSA. The Imaginaries, who teamed up with Armstrong on the Camp arrowhead soundtrack (as well as Maggie McClure having several songs featured in A cowgirl story and Cowgirls and Angels), co-star, co-produce, supervise music, score and write the soundtrack of the film.
Ladd is famous for playing Kris Munroe on ABC’s charlie’s angels for 87 episodes. She performed in features such as Poison Ivy, Permanent Midnight and Denise Di Novi’s first feature film Unforgettable. Recent TV credits include Ballers, Ray Donovan and American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson like Linell Shapiro.
