Eddie Gamarra has been named vice president of literary affairs at Nickelodeon and Awesomeness. In the newly created position, the former VP of Business Development at Nick’s Studio will research, track and evaluate literary material at all stages of publication for the option and development in animated and live content for both. A former university professor, Gamarra previously served as literary director at the Gotham Group, which represents writers, directors, animators, writers, illustrators, publishers and animation studios around the world. With a focus on children and family entertainment, Gamarra has worked with many New York Times bestselling authors and illustrators, as well as Oscar, Emmy, Caldecott and Newbery winners and nominees.
Gamarra was also executive producer of The maze Runner 20th Century Fox trilogy, based on the best-selling book series, and the Disney + production of Jerry Spinelli’s iconic love story Star girl.
Based in Los Angeles, Gamarra will report to Shauna Phelan and Zack Olin, who co-lead live scripted content for Nickelodeon, Awesomeness and third-party platforms, and Ramsey Naito, president of Nickelodeon Animation.
