EXCLUSIVE: Directors of Pitta Kathalu, Nag Ashwin, Tharun Bhascker, Nandini Reddy and Sankalp Reddy share hilarious moments from their movie sets: Bollywood News

Original Netflix Pitta kathalu is the first Telugu anthology on the platform and is edited by Tharun Bhascker, Nandini Reddy, Nag Ashwin and Sankalp Reddy. The four short films revolve around the theme of power dynamics in romantic relationships with women as central characters. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, the four filmmakers revealed their most memorable moments on set.

Nandini Reddy who made the short film titled Meera starring Amala Paul and Jagapathi Babu says, “I had some 2-3 pics of sexual content and everyone was like how are we going to do this. It was really hilarious because all the boys were really nervous but Amala was really cool. They were sweating and we had to reassure them. We were trying to choreograph between me, Amala and my DOP and every time my DOP had an idea we were like “Woahhhhh” and look at it and embarrass it. So it was the girls who harassed the boys.

Tharun Bhascker who made Ramula set against the backdrop of a rural village spoke about his experience of quietly filming a makeup scene. “There were scenes in the village and we took permission and touched the feet of many village elders saying, ‘This guy is going to get a good reputation for the village.’ And I’m shooting a scene in their house without their knowledge. We played some really massive songs in Telugu and told them downstairs we’re just spinning one song. If they had had a glimpse of what we were doing, we would have been stoned to death, ”Tharun said.

Nag Ashwin who created a virtual reality world in his short film X-Life with Shruthi Haasan and Sanjith Hegde said: “For me it was a day that I had to shoot a lot in a hotel that was very expensive. I don’t think I’ve ever shot so fast. I shot between 14 and 15 edits that day. When that day was over, I was so relieved. I don’t know what I shot but I was so happy.

Sankalp who fired Pinky, however, feels that every moment was memorable. He had his film ready long before the pandemic hit the country. “I shot this in 2019, from September to October. I shot for 7-8 days. For me, the most memorable moments are those interviews that do these days, ”he jokes.

“So every day was memorable, nothing special. We were shooting as professionals and we didn’t see it as a short film but as an ordinary film, ”he added.
