Luke Scrase, the former head of Sony Pictures International Productions, is launching his own UK-based production company, Golden Gate Studios. The company has entered into a premier deal for film and television projects with Sony, starting this month.
Golden Gate will focus on the development and production of UK and European genre films as well as commercial television series for the global market. The aim will be to produce a mix of content in English and the local language.
Scrase remains committed to various Sony projects that he initiated during his time at the studio’s UK office. His credits include Michael Winterbottom Greed and that of Michael Caton-Jones our ladies, the last of which will be released later this year. It also has that of Patrick Marber Recall, with Colin Firth and Gemma Arterton, and Kelly’s Death Spit, directed by Iain Softley, in preparation.
