Fox News host Tucker Carlson lambasted Dr Anthony Fauci for allegedly lying about his role during the pandemic, accusing him and other health officials of “covering up” aspects.
Carlson fired at Fauci on Friday, who claimed in his own media appearances that his emails and public statements had been distorted.
“It is now clear that in the early days of the pandemic, public health officials in Washington were in panic,” Carlson said. “The officials in Washington were terrified for themselves. They were afraid of being exposed.
Carlson said their solution was to impose “medical martial law” to ease questioning. He said they feared their funding for experiments at the Wuhan Institute of Virology could be exposed.
“They had used US taxpayer money to fund reckless experiments in China that ultimately likely created COVID-19,” Carlson said. “If this fact were to become public, it would be over. They would be humiliated and ridiculed – maybe even charged. Their professional life would be over. “So they immediately got to work hiding it in a cover-up.”
Fauci’s emails were published this week by BuzzFeed and the Washington Post. The emails seemed to take a different stance from what was being said publicly.
MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow hosted Fauci on Friday night.
Fauci told Maddow the attacks were “a terrible and unhappy type of distraction, but it all makes no sense.”
