NBCUniversal hires Melissa Harper of Fremantle to oversee physical production of TV and streaming unit
The Interactive Advertising Bureau finalized the schedule for NewFronts, with NBCUniversal joining the list of presenters.
As was the case last year, NewFronts – breaking away from the series of in-person presentations to ad buyers in locations across New York City – will be virtual due to the coronavirus pandemic. Presentations to ad buyers will return to a familiar niche, however, from May 3-6. It’s a throwback to the traditional spring prelude to the biggest week of TV programming, which is also back in its long-held period in mid-May.
This year’s lineup of presenters does not include Hulu, the longtime mainstay of NewFronts (now built into Disney Presentations), but adds notable newcomers like Amazon and NBCUniversal. (The niche for NBCU is new since the list of presenters was first confirmed last month.)

Each of the four days of presentations will feature several hours of programming, starting with an organized welcome segment before individual companies take the stage. Messaging takes a more concentrated form than traditional NewFronts, which typically start with breakfast and end late at night. YouTube, whose annual Brandcast tended to last over two hours and showcase a range of top-notch musical performances, is expected to be 40 minutes long.
