Although not many people know, a few years ago, Pooja Banerjee suffered a serious accident that required her to undergo surgery to deal with multiple fractures to her arm. While she had almost lost all hope of getting back to normal, it was her constant effort and determination that allowed her to regain movement in her hands.
Recalling the experience and the moment when Pooja said: “I had an accident on the sets of a reality show and suffered multiple broken arms from the incident. had to have surgery for the same and they put two rods and eight screws in my hand. I was in so much pain that I thought I could never go back to normal and use my hands properly. Even when I started shooting for Kumkum Bhagya last year, I had restricted my hand movements. While I was on the road to recovery and had developed strength by that time, it was still extremely difficult for me to pick up and hold things while filming for a longer period of time. But through constant hard work, determination and recovery, I recovered almost 85% movement in my right hand and 100% movement in my left hand. I have to thank my family, friends and doctors, who helped me through this journey and allowed me to recover from such a serious incident. I can say that I have almost recovered now, but there are still a few steps to go.
While Pooja is definitely on the road to recovery, she is more than happy to be able to take control of her physical condition, including practicing yoga. Sharing his joy, Pooja revealed, “After almost a year and a half I started training and it’s so good to be able to do yoga again; it gives me so much peace and energy. Initially, I focused only on basic physiotherapy exercises using weights and Thera bands that I would carry with me on the Kumkum Bhagya platters. Now I am able to do dolphin boards, a bit of weight training, yoga asanas, Surya Namaskars and also a bit of push-ups. Most importantly, I developed a confidence in my own body that I had somewhat lost after the accident. It must have been an overwhelming journey, but that said, I’m grateful and just want to be the best version of myself. I will surely push myself as much as I can.
As Pooja inspires people to stay positive, her onscreen character, Rhea, helps Pragya save Abhi from Tanu’s life. But will they succeed? What will happen next?
