Prince Philip’s funeral will take place today, Saturday April 17, and will be broadcast around the world, as the Duke of Edinburgh is remembered for his 70 years in service to the British monarchy.

In accordance with his wishes and the British Covid-19 guidelines for the funeral, Prince Philip will receive an intimate consignment, which will include 30 members of the royal family, including his wife Queen Elizabeth II, children and grandchildren, including the prince Harry who flew from United States.

Other dignitaries will watch the debates on television with the rest of the world, including British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who will be in residence at 10 Downing Street. Meghan Markle is likely to tune in from the West Coast, where she would have access to a specially curated live broadcast for family and friends who cannot attend.

Staged at St George’s Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle, formalities begin with a short procession to 2:45 p.m. UK local time, 9:45 a.m. ET and 6:45 a.m. PT. Prince Philip’s coffin will be transported in a specially designed Land Rover, while members of the Royal Family will follow on foot, including his son Prince Charles.

The 50-minute ceremonial funeral takes place at 3 p.m., starting with the entry of the coffin into St George’s Chapel, where it will be received by the Archbishop of Canterbury. There will be a national minute of silence before the start of the service.

  • Gayle King will present a special live report for CBS, starting at 9:30 a.m. ET. CBS News correspondents Charlie D’Agata and Holly Williams will be in the field.
  • Fox News airs live with a special at 9 a.m. ET. Martha MacCallum will take the presenter chair.
  • Anderson Cooper is anchored for CNN and will go live at 9 a.m. ET.
  • MSNBC’s Alex Witt and Katy Tur also air the funeral starting at 9 a.m.ET.
  • NBC News will broadcast the formalities starting at 9:30 a.m.ET, with Today Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb in front of the show.
  • ABC News also kicks off at 9:30 a.m. ET, with David Muir and Deborah Roberts as the host.
  • BBC World News will broadcast the funeral live in the United States and other territories, including Canada, Australia, India, Germany and South Africa.

  • BBC One’s coverage begins at 12:30 p.m. BST and continues until 4:20 p.m. BST. Huw Edwards will anchor the show.

  • BBC News and Sky News will have continuous coverage of the proceedings, while CNN International will provide coverage of Anderson Cooper.
