London Critics’ Circle nominees include ‘Saint Maud’, ‘Nomadland’ – Deadline

The films by writer-directors Rose Glass, Sarah Gavron, Chloé Zhao and Emerald Fennell won the most nominations for the 41st London ReviewsCircle Film Awards, which will be presented virtually in early February. Scroll down for the full list of nominees.

Glass’s dramatic horror Saint maud led the way with eight nominations, including Film, Director, Writer, Actress (Morfydd Clark) and Supporting Actress (Jennifer Ehle). Additionally, the film is nominated for British / Irish Film of the Year, and Clark is nominated for British / Irish Actress, a Lifetime Achievement Award which includes her appearance in Eternal beauty.

Other main contenders include Sarah Gavron London coming of age story Rocks with six nominations, the improvised American road movie by Chloé Zhao Nomadland with five, and Emerald Fennell’s provocative and comedic noir thriller Promising young woman with four.

David Fincher’s Hollywood biopic also won four nominations Mank and Steve McQueen’s house-party drama Rock lovers. McQueen is Director of the Year for his five Small Ax films.

Roy Andersson’s comedy-drama rounds out ten nominees for film of the year About infinity, The journalistic documentary by Alexander Nanau Collective, Charlie Kaufman’s Dark Comedy I think of the end of things, Kevin Macdonald’s Guantanamo Drama Mauritanian and the Korean-American immigrant saga of Lee Isaac Chung Minari.

The late Chadwick Boseman received nominations for his lead role in Ma Rainey’s black background and its supporting role in Da 5 Bloods.

Due to the pandemic, more films released directly on streaming services have become eligible and eligible release dates have been extended until March, provided the films have been screened in 2020 reviews or during festivals. The 41st London ReviewsCircle The Film Awards will be presented virtually on Sunday February 7th.
