Shankar, the maverick filmmaker from the South known for his fantasies on the big screen, recently found himself in a legal traffic jam. First there was the producer of the 2005 Telugu blockbuster Shankar Anniyan. Producer Aascar V Ravichandran has claimed – and rightly so – that the story and screenplay rights of Anniyan belonged to him and therefore Shankar was not in his right to make the remake.

Now comes an even bigger blow to Shankar’s epic plans with his long delay Indian 2 being in a legal tangle. Producers Lyca Productions have now taken a lawsuit to ban Shankar from directing any other films until he’s finished Indian 2.

But will be Indian 2 never finished? The film’s main character, Kamal Haasan, has been busy with his political aspirations which take priority well above his film career at the moment.

A knowledgeable source reveals: “Indian 2 was confused from the start. He was faced with one problem after another. Now producers are going to court to demand that the director be barred from signing other films until he’s done Indian 2 could have important repercussions for all directors in multi-projects.
