National CineMedia in Advertising Agreement with Coin Counting Kiosk Owner Coinstar – Deadline

National film advertising network CineMedia has entered into a deal to run ads with Coinstar, a large operator of supermarket coin counting kiosks.

With the Covid-19 skid exhibit activity, the deal helps expand National CineMedia’s out-of-home digital footprint by expanding its cinema-centric entertainment content, trivia and advertising beyond theaters from cinema to complementary places. It will sell adPlanet – a flexible new digital advertising platform that sits atop Coinstar kiosks – from media at the national, regional, local and programmatic level.

AdPlanet is installed in approximately 4,000 retail outlets in 35 of the top 50 US DMAs and includes a large screen with HD content capabilities, motion or static image options, and network and kiosk personalization. Advertisers can track reading and performance and serve or edit ads in real time.

AMC Entertainment Files struggling to sell 50 million more shares

Coinstar operates 22,000 kiosks nationwide in mass merchants, grocery stores, pharmacies and financial institutions.

“The cinema audience has learned to know and love [our] entertainment and trivia content in their local theater, so we’re excited to bring it to Coinstar’s adPlanet network to continue engaging with them when they shop in their local community, ”said Steve Sapp, vice Senior President of National CineMedia, Digital Out-of-Home Sales. “Working with Coinstar allows us to create… innovative campaigns that engage moviegoers where they shop.”

National CineMedia is the largest film advertising network in the United States, exclusive to 57 national and regional circuits, including AMC Entertainment Cinemark and Regal. However, that hasn’t said much for most of last year, as a pandemic has shut down theaters, which are still closed in key markets like New York and Los Angeles and operating elsewhere at reduced capacity.

The shares, which were crushed along with the rest of the exhibition sector, rose about 1% to $ 3.65.
