Peacock Reaches 42 Million First Quarter Signups – Deadline

NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock saw 42 million first-quarter signups – up from 33 million it reported three months ago – benefiting from the recent addition of exclusive domestic broadcast rights to WWE Network and The Office.

Parent Comcast also posted a huge profit beating with EPS of $ 0.71 – up 54% from a year ago, on revenue of $ 27.5 billion, up 2 , 5%.

CEO Brian Roberts said Comcast is “off to a good start in 2021”.

“Our entire company performed well across the board, evidenced by another strong performance from cable, which recorded its third consecutive quarter of persistent double-digit recovery and growing momentum at NBCUniversal and Sky. Our theme parks have once again reached breakeven point, excluding the costs of pre-opening the Universal Beijing Resort, ”he said.

The parks have all been active since Universal Studios Hollywood reopened on April 16. However, the division still suffered a huge blow in the last quarter, with revenues down 33% and operating profits down 170%.

Cable communications – the largest segment – saw revenues increase 5.9% to $ 15.8 billion in the first quarter, driven by increased revenues from broadband, wireless, business services and advertising. The total number of customer relationships increased from 380,000 to 33.5 million, although it lost 491,000 net video subscribers.
