Hunger and the food crisis are long-standing problems plaguing the world. Tackling the cause of food preservation, actor Rasika Dugal and Mukul Chadda are leading a powerful video campaign for The Robin Hood Army, a fundless volunteer organization that works to secure surplus food from restaurants and communities to serve the poor. This video comes out on Valentine’s Day, a day that has witnessed an overwhelming amount of food waste. For the special day of love, Robin Hood’s army considered the #SpreadLoveShareFood cause.
Interestingly, the thought-provoking video was conceptualized by Mukul’s 14-year-old nephew Neel Menon. The video was produced by the young filmmaker as part of a school project on the United Nations sustainable development goal: zero hunger. Starring Rasika and Mukul, the video shows that a third of the food produced in the world is wasted.
Rasika and Mukul jointly state, “We live very privileged lives and therefore it is our responsibility to give back to society whenever we can. The underlying message of the video campaign is to spread the word about food conservation and the hunger crisis. It is commendable that Neel, at his age, came up with such a stimulating concept. Our best wishes to the Robin Hood Army for the work they are doing to end the hunger crisis. “
Job wise, Rasika and Mukul have collaborated on a short film called Banana Bread, and their upcoming feature Fairy Folk is currently in production.
