‘SNL’ parodies MTV dating contests with the Cringe format What’s Your Type? – Deadline

Cecily Strong and running an MTV dating contest? Kind of.

Saturday Night Live slid to the right What is your type?, an “MTV Digital Original Production”, a format you can imagine was presented in town.

Imagine a cross between The dating game and Are you the chosen one?

Strong played Snapchat star “Tampa Bay Jenae,” a girl “who rose to fame for parting her butt on Snapchat,” while Ego Nwodim was the show’s DJ.

Regina King played Kendra, Oakland’s Marketing Supervisor, on the hunt for a “cringey white dude in his forties.”

Featured by Matt Stainer, who loves Kamala Harris and RBG, Link Bronwin, a Black History Month fan, and the Spin Doctors wearing fedora singing Kevin Farkiss. As Strong said to the latter, “We have to pay money when you sing these songs, so stop,” which is probably pretty close to the truth.

“I’m a puddle,” admits King’s Kendra.
