Supernatural thriller series ‘Voluntary Committal’ based on Joe Hill’s Novella in progress at Paramount TV Studios – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Paramount TV Studios is developing Voluntary commitment, a supernatural psychological thriller based on the novel by Locke and key and NOS4A2 author Joe Hill. The project comes from Hill, writer Brad Caleb Kane (warrior), Bob Cooper (Medical investigation, Mr. Woodcock) and its Landscape Entertainment.

Written by Kane, Voluntary commitment is based on Hill’s story 20th century ghosts collection. It centers on Nolan Lerner and his quest to uncover the truth about his autistic brother’s disappearance and his potential connection to a dark secret from their past. The circumstances surrounding Nolan’s investigation will begin to reveal that Nolan isn’t the only person in town hiding a secret, and that there is a darker stream in this town that dates back decades of missing persons. The series will tell both the stories of Nolan’s investigation as an adult and his teenage years with his autistic brother Morris, who had an extraordinary ability to build elaborate mazes large enough for people to enter. ; although people don’t always go out. The interwoven stories throughout the two timelines will constantly inform each other, with the story of Nolan’s past ending up providing answers that launch the rest of the series into the present.

‘NOS4A2’ canceled after two seasons by AMC

The Kane executive produces with Hill, with Cooper and Tom Lerner, vice president of television for Landscape Entertainment. Paramount TV Studios is the studio. Richard Gold will oversee the project for Paramount TV Studios.

20th century ghosts is a collection of Hill short stories, published by PS Publishing in 2005 in the UK and published in the US in 2007. Hill is the author of NOS4A2, which was adapted into a supernatural horror series by AMC and ran for two seasons. He is also the author of Locke and key comic book series, the basis of the Netflix series which has been renewed for a third season. Hill is replaced by Sean Daily at Hotchkiss & Associates.

Kane was recently executive producer on Cinemax’s Warrior. He was previously co-executive producer on Lodge 49 and Black sails. Kane is replaced by manager Josh Goldenberg at Kaplan Perrone.
