WWE Appoints DAZN and Showtime Vet Chris Legentil as Chief Communications Officer, Reporting to Director of Revenue Nick Khan – Deadline

Chris Legentil, a veteran of the DAZN streaming service as well as Showtime and the NBA, has been appointed SVP and Global Communications Manager for WWE Corp.

In the direction of communications strategy, he will report directly to Nick Khan, the former CAA Television Co-Director who is now WWE President and Chief Revenue Officer. Khan will now oversee the company’s communications division.

Legentil will be based at the company’s headquarters in Stamford, CT.

Khan moved from CAA to WWE last August as founder Vince McMahon and his leadership team sought to position the wrestling-focused organization as a media and content-focused entity. The arrival of Legentil in a newly created position testifies to this ongoing development.

Last week, Khan joined the company’s board of directors, alongside former ESPN content EVP Connor Schell and Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena CEO Steve Koonin. Prior to entering the sport, Koonin was a longtime senior executive at Turner Broadcasting.

Even before the coronavirus pandemic wreaked havoc on WWE’s live event business, the company has undergone a management reshuffle. Co-Chairs George Barrios and Michelle Wilson stepped out in January 2020 and longtime board member Frank A. Riddick III was appointed CFO.

At DAZN, the sports streamer backed by billionaire Len Blavatnik, Legentil was senior vice president of global communications, overseeing both consumer and business communications. He worked closely with John Skipper, the former president of ESPN who started DAZN in the United States after joining the company in 2018 and then expanded it globally.

Legentil previously worked for the National Basketball Association and Showtime Networks. He was recognized by PR Week in 2020 as one of the specialty media brand’s “40 under 40” winners.
