Yash Raj Films to vaccinate 30,000 registered film industry workers: Bollywood News

Amid the surge in COVID-19 cases and the second wave that left the country in a grim state, filming and TV shows have come to a halt. The state of Maharashtra is currently in its second lockdown. Production house Yash Raj Films has taken charge of vaccinating nearly 30,000 registered members of the film industry and procuring 60,000 vaccines against the coronavirus. The costs will be borne by YRF.

Akshaye Widhani, senior vice president of YRF, wrote in his letter: “With the film industry going through an unprecedented period, there is an urgent need to restart as soon as possible so that thousands of workers can start making a living and protect their lives. family. Yash Raj Films, through the Yash Chopra Foundation, would like to offer support in this regard. We have made a request to the Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra to allocate and allow us to purchase 19 COVID vaccines for 30,000 registered workers, who are members of the Film Industry Federation in Mumbai at the earliest. The Yash Chopra Foundation will bear all other costs associated with the vaccination of workers such as awareness, transportation of workers and the establishment of all the necessary infrastructure for the vaccination program. We hope that our kind request will be approved, which will allow our members to be re safe and get them back to work as soon as possible. “

According to a letter to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), YRF has decided to vaccinate nearly 30,000 members of the M&E industry free of charge. They asked Maharashtra’s chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray, to give them permission to purchase 60,000 vaccines. “Vaccination is very important not only to fight the disease, but also to fight the declining economy of the state,” the letter read.
