“A group of people will probably die” – Deadline

Elon Musk is hosting Saturday Night Live in May. But no one laughs at his last statement.

Musk made his prediction in an interview with Peter Diamandis, founder and president of the X Prize Foundation for Scientific Discovery.

“You could die, it will be uncomfortable and you probably won’t have good food,” Musk said, adding that it will be a “arduous and dangerous journey where you may not be able to come back alive.”

“Honestly, a bunch of people will probably die early on,” he added, but insisted it would also be “a glorious adventure and it will be an incredible experience.”

It’s “not for everyone,” he said. “Volunteers only!”

Musk’s Space X has launched more than 100 rockets over the past decade. Several ended up exploding or crashing in some other way. Musk predicted a landing on Mars by humans by 2026, with an eye towards a city of 1 million people on the Red Planet.
