After receiving incredible reviews internationally, Judas and the Black Messiah is scheduled for release in India on March 5. The film was recently nominated with two Golden Globe Awards nominations – Best Supporting Actor (film) – Daniel Kaluuya and Best Song (film) – ‘Fight for you’.

Inspired by real events, Judas and the Black Messiah is directed by Shaka King, marking his debut as a studio director. The project was born with King and his writing partner, Will Berson, who co-wrote the screenplay, and Kenny Lucas & Keith Lucas, who co-wrote the story with Berson & King. King, who has a long relationship with filmmaker Ryan Coogler, introduced the film to Coogler and Charles D. King, who are producing the film with Shaka King.

The late 1960s were one of the most tumultuous and pivotal times in American history. A nation in the throes of political and social unrest has been besieged by explosive protests against prevailing social and gender norms, the Vietnam War and racial injustice. Black communities across the country, tired of dealing with racial disparities in health care, housing, education and employment – all the growths of systemic inequality – were finally fed up.

Commenting on the film, director Shaka King said, “I think for a lot of black men Fred Hampton is a real hero because of his fearlessness, fear and unstoppability, but people still seem centered. about the tragic way of his death. , not at all focused on his heroic way of life. I wanted to change that.

Judas and the stars of the black Messiah Oscar nominee Daniel Kaluuya as Fred Hampton and LaKeith Stanfield as William O’Neal. The film also stars Jesse Plemons, Dominique Fishback, Ashton Sanders and Martin Sheen.
