“Love Island” to get a Twist script via the ITV application “I have a text!” ” – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: To accompany the seventh British season of Island of love, ITV is launching an app that will invite users to immerse themselves in a fictional version of the reality show.

ITV has partnered with developer Unrd and Island of love sponsor, the clothing brand I Saw It First, to launch the I have a text! app, which features an interactive fictional story titled Love Island: the drama.

The dramatized story was filmed at ITV studios Island of love production center in Gran Canaria this summer and features a cast of actors, models and influencers playing a scripted story in the fictional villa.

Users will be able to follow the action for 24 days, in conjunction with the real series as it airs on ITV2. As they follow the drama of the app, they’ll have access to the characters’ phones to snoop through their text messages, scroll through their photo reels, watch never-before-seen videos, and hear gossip.

Spending four days at a time with each character, users will try to guess where the plot is heading, commenting on the action alongside other players via an in-app group chat. They can speed up the story through in-app payments or by watching advertisements.

The app can be pre-ordered on Android and Apple devices, and the story will launch on the same day as the Season 7 premiere. It complements the Love island the game app, a role-playing game launched in 2018.

Neil Bowler, ITV Games Controller, said: “This is a really exciting development in our strategy to expand our programming and make it ‘More Than TV’. The continued success of the Island of love game over the past few years has shown the appetite for gambling, and for this particular show, and I have a text is a really innovative and new way to interact with viewers.

Unrd co-founder Adam Lowe added: “After a hiatus last year, we know fans literally can’t wait for the new series to debut – and Love Island: the drama will offer them another platform through which they can experience the magic of Island of love Mark.”

Unrd created a similar app for the MTV show Ghost, with users diving into a fictional version of the dating show.
