There won’t be a massive crowd, but plenty of music will still be available for New Years Eve in Times Square. Using a combination of television and streaming, the show will continue despite pandemic restrictions against large gatherings.
Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment, the co-hosts of Times Square New Year’s Eve, announced today that singer-songwriter Andra Day will lead the live, ad-free webcast and TV stream.
Day to perform Grammy-nominated single Rise up, as well as his song Mine forever. Day will also continue the New Years tradition of singing John Lennon’s Imagine just before the balloon celebration to count the last seconds until the new year.

The co-organizers of the event said the official lineup of Times Square New Years Eve events will include live performances by Gloria Gaynor, Pitbull, Anitta, Jennifer Lopez, Billy Porter, Cyndi Lauper, Jimmie Allen, Machine Gun Kelly, The Waffle Crew and USO Show Troupe, as well as an array of special activities and appearances that will take place throughout the evening.
The six-hour, ad-free live webcast will begin at 6:00 p.m. ET with the New Years Eve lighting and dawn of the New Years Eve prom atop One Times Square. The webcast will include musical performances by Andra Day, Gloria Gaynor, Anitta, Pitbull, the USO Show Troupe and The Waffle Crew.
Jamestown, owner of One Times Square, home of the iconic Ball Drop Celebration, has created a virtual New Years experience. Anyone can start the festivities today and step into a virtual Time Square world filled with games, music and art.
Then on December 31, viewers can tune in for a live broadcast where they can choose from multiple camera feeds to run their own New Year’s Eve show. In addition, viewers will also have the chance to see other celebrations of the around the world and hearing messages from local leaders and people in dozens of cities around the world.

For 116 years, Times Square has been the center of global attention on New Year’s Eve, since the owners of One Times Square in 1904 began hosting rooftop celebrations to greet the New Year. The first celebration of the lowering of the ball was held in 1907, and this tradition is now a universal symbol of welcoming the New Year.
Actor and television personality Jonathan Bennett, star of the film Hallmark Holiday Christmas house and Bad girls, and host of Food webof Halloween wars and Holiday wars, will return to the celebration as the New Years Eve host in Times Square.
The 12e An annual webcast will cover the action and festivities in Times Square, starting with the Ball Raising at 6 p.m. ET, as well as live musical performances, hourly countdowns, backstage stories and celebrity interviews as anticipation grows towards the midnight countdown and the famous Ball Drop. The custom-designed, embeddable video gives viewers a full New Years Eve experience in Times Square.
All participants will remain masked at all times except during runtime and will adhere to distancing rules throughout the production site. In addition, all families of special guests, who are included in the capacity limits for production, will be staged in their personal safety zone to ensure a good distance from other participants.

The Times Square 2021 webcast will begin at 6 p.m. ET on December 31, 2020 and end at 12:15 p.m. ET on January 1, 2021. The show will be broadcast live on multiple websites, including TimesSquareNYC.org, NewYearsEve.nyc, Livestream.com/2021, and TimesSquareBall.net.
