On Main Hoon Na’s birthday, here’s a fun anecdote – did you know that Hrithik Roshan and not Zayed Khan was the first choice for Lucky?

Today is Main Hoon Na’s 17th birthday. Unbelievable, no, how fast does the time go ?! It’s like the other day when we walked out of theaters, imagining ourselves romanticizing Shah Rukh Khan on Tumse Milke Dil Ka Haal or Gori Gori. The masala artist was released in 2004. But did you know it was originally slated for a 2003 release? Yes, you read that right. Conversely, Main Hoon Na had been in development since 2001. Yes, that long. The Farah Khan movie has been delayed for a number of reasons over the years. An interesting anecdote about Main Hoon Na is that, it seems, Zayed Khan was not the initial choice to play the character of Lucky aka Lakshman Prasad Sharma in the film. Apparently, the hunky hunk not only signed the movie, but also got his signature amount for Main Hoon Na. However, due to the unavailability of dates, the Super 30 actor had to withdraw from the film. Did you know? Well, according to some media reports, even before Hrithik Roshan made his debut with Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, he was in high demand. Therefore, he already had several projects in his kitty. With numerous delays affecting the filming of Main Hoon Na and other work engagements at the end of Hrithik, the war actor had to move on. The production house then looked for a quick replacement once everything finally fell into place, and to avoid further delay, Zayed Khan finally played Lucky. Besides Shah Rukh Khan and Zayed Khan, Main Hoon Na also played Suniel Shetty, Sushmita Sen, Amrita Rao, Kirron Kher, Naseeruddin Shah, Kabir Bedi, Murali Sharma, Bindu, Boman Irani and Satish Shah to name a few- a few. Speaking of Shah Rukh Khan, his role as Major Ram Sharma has been widely appreciated.
