EXCLUSIVE: Fox goes royal with its latest animated comedy development.
The network delivered a script pledge to Wawa Prize, an animated comedy by comedians Tim Baltz and Lily Sullivan and executive produced by Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald and Hayden Schlossberg.
The comedy centers on a naive prince, voiced by Baltz, who juggles life between the ocean, the only house he has ever known, and his new life on earth with his human mother in the breathtaking metropolis. of Tampa, Florida.
Baltz, who stars in HBO The right gemsand Sullivan, who appeared on Netflix’s Sketch Show I think you should go with Tim Robinson, will write and execute the production Prince Wawa.
Heald, Hurwitz and Schlossberg will run production through their production company Counterbalance Entertainment with Dina Hillier, Head of Development for Counterbalance.
It comes from Sony Pictures Television, where Counterbalance has a global deal, and Fox Entertainment.
Baltz, who has also appeared on Comedy Central’s The opposition with Jordan Klepper and appeared in Veep and Parks and recreation, previously co-created Shrink. Sullivan also hosts the podcast Going deep on Stitcher Premium, and recently appeared in Charlie Brooker’s Netflix comedy special Dead until 2020. She also created, wrote and starred in three seasons of Sammy Way Project, a digital impact of Project track.
Hurwitz and Schlossberg are behind New Line’s Harold and Kumar movie franchise and Heald wrote the Time Machine franchise for MGM. Season three of Cobra Kai recently launched on Netflix and topped the streamer’s watch list in 28 countries.
This is the last animation project of the network, which continues to double the genre. The network has just awarded an official serial order to Dan Harmon for a show set in mythical ancient Greece, The big North, of Bob’s Burgers creator Loren Bouchard, has just launched on the network and has been renewed for a second season before its premiere, joining Bless the harts and Duncanville as well as veteran series including The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers and upcoming series Familiar.
Fox Entertainment President Michael Thorn told Deadline last year that animation is a “key part” of his business and that he wants to build on that legacy.
