Two-time Oscar nominee Samantha Morton set to star as villainous Catherine de Medici in new Starz Original series The queen of serpents.
Morton (Minority Report, The Walking Dead) will play Catherine in the series described as ‘the Medici-centric black legend’ by writer and executive producer Justin Haythe (Revolutionary route).
The series will also be produced by Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games franchise) and Erwin Stoff (The Matrix). Stacie Passon (Transparent) will direct several episodes, including the premiere.
Award-winning British actress Samantha Morton first gained international attention in Carine Adler’s Under the skin, which earned her the Boston Film Critics Award for Best Actress.
