Producers Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak have acquired the rights to the Hindi-language remake of the hit Malayalam film Drishyam 2 – The Revival. The official Bollywood remake of Mohanlal’s instant classic thriller, directed by Jeethu Joseph, will be funded under their banner, Panorama Studios International. And the burning question now is whether Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and the rest of the original cast of the Bollywood adaptation of the first Drishyam will also reprise their roles for the second remake.
Drishyam has been remade in a record number of languages, including Hindi. Following the success of Drishyam 2 – The Resumption, production company Panorama Studios is set to repeat the formula for success with the Hindi remake version of Drishyam 2.
Panorama Studio International’s Kumar Mangat Pathak shares, “With the huge success of Drishyam 2, the story has to be told with passion and commitment and we as producers are committed to it.”
Speaking about the acquisition of Drishyam 2, Malayalam-born producer Antony Perumbavoor shares, “We are pleased that Panorama Studios International has acquired the rights to Drishyam 2 and I am sure the production company will justify the film.”
Original Malayalam Drishyam 2 director Jeethu Joseph shared, “The story of Drishyam 2 resonated with people and I’m so happy that Panorama Studios is bringing it to a wider audience with the Hindi remake. I can not wait to be there.”
With Kumar Mangat Pathak behind the Drishyam 2 remake, it wouldn’t be a stretch to believe that at least Ajay Devgn will be back, given how close the two are. However, given the progression of the story of the original Malayalm, we don’t see how the movie could play out without Tabu and most of the other cast returning as well. Fingers crossed that this is the case.
