‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ Prepares Broadway Return With Jeff Daniels – Deadline

Aaron Sorkin’s Kill a mockingbird will return to Broadway on Tuesday, October 5 at the Shubert Theater, with Jeff Daniels reprising her original role as “Atticus Finch” and Celia Keenan-Bolger returning in her Tony Award-winning performance as “Scout Finch”.

The announcement was made today by producer Barry Diller. Scott Rudin is no longer credited as a producer, having announced his intention to withdraw from his Broadway projects following accusations of his abusive behavior at work. Orin Wolf (The visit of the group, violinist on the roof) was appointed executive producer of Kill a mockingbird, effective immediately. Wolf will oversee all aspects of production.

In a statement, Aaron Sorkin said: “We have been waiting for over a year Mocking bird– and all of Broadway – to come back, so it’s a very happy announcement. I look forward to the play’s relaunch under Orin Wolf’s direction and am excited about the electricity that Jeff, Celia and the entire cast will bring to the Shubert Theater. I can’t wait to be back in our rehearsal room.

Daniels added, “In the original year I felt a nighttime privilege playing Atticus Finch. At this point in our country’s history, I am honored to play it again, to inhabit an iconic American hero who always speaks to our times and will help us all remember who we can be.

Kill a mockingbird raised a gross total of over $ 125,000,000 and, before Broadway closed, performed continuously in houses where there were only standing places. Since the performances began on Thursday, November 1, 2018, the production has not played an empty seat, with capacity remaining above 100% for each performance.

Daniels and Keenan-Bolger began their roles in production, with Ed Harris and Nina Grollman eventually picking up the replacement parts in 2019.

Kill a mockingbird kicks off its nationwide tour from coast to coast on March 27, 2022 at Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, NY, followed by the tour’s official opening on April 5, 2022 at Citizens Bank Opera House in Boston, MA, with an Emmy Award winner Richard Thomas as ‘Atticus Finch’; and will begin performances in London’s West End at the Gielgud Theater on March 10, 2022, with Rafe Spall.

Full casting and others Kill a mockingbird news will be announced soon.
