Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha were set to be cast in Ram Balram by producer Tito Tony. Jaya Bachchan was not satisfied with it and had a good relationship in Bollywood. She recommended, Tito Tony, to choose Zeenat Aman for the film. However, Rekha couldn’t take it when she learned that she had been replaced. She knew producer Tito Tony wouldn’t help her and so she went to director Vijay Anand and convinced him. At that time, Rekha was the best actress, which is why a star like Rekha approaching a director for the work Vijay Anand could not refuse. However, he asked her to convince producer Tito Tony. Rekha gave the producer an incredible offer he couldn’t turn down. Rekha decided to make the film for free. Therefore, she was thrown out and filming began.
