Today marks the 8th anniversary of the death of Jian Khan (June 3). His untimely demise sent shockwaves through the industry. Ram Gopal Varma, who cast her in his 2007 film Nishabd vs. Amitabh Bachchan, had spoken about the actress in his book, Guns and Thighs.
He wrote that when he first met her he thought “she was the most innocently sexy girl” he had ever seen. Many had high hopes for the actress as she had shown a lot of potential in her first film itself. However, his career did not last long. The filmmaker further wrote: “When I heard about her suicide, I cried uncontrollably even though I was never really close to her. She was one of the few people who couldn’t face the disappointments and frustrations that the film industry is full of.
The filmmaker also made a huge revelation on Twitter. He had said that the actress was unemployed despite having acted in blockbuster movies. “Although she is highly regarded in Nishabd and a part of successful Ghajini and Housefull, she has not had a job for the past three years. I don’t know the reason why this led to this, but Jiah was very depressed about her career and feared for her future.
Her tweet also read, “The last time I met her Jiah told me that everyone around her made her feel like a failure. So young and so pretty. I can’t believe it. that someone so young and full of life just died. No matter what her problem was, I would love so much that she would apply her onscreen philosophy of Nishabd to her own life of taking Lite. “
Well, Jiah will surely be remembered for the impressive work she did in her short career. A life that was definitely gone too soon.
